I’m going to drive two hours tomorrow to go to the Clark Museum and see paintings created by Picasso and Degas. This combo may seem a little odd but Picasso sampled a lot of Degas work and the exhibition compares the use of women bathing, voyeurism, Paris and the Ballet. For those of you who don’t know I’m obsessed with Degas for the past five years I’ve had his ballerinas tell me the date on a calendar and I’ve copied his work in my art. If it’s raining you will definitely see me walking around with my umbrella that has the painting The Dance Studio on it. As a fan I’m literally shaking I’m so excited to see these ballerina paintings in real life and I hope to God they allow cameras. As a student whose major is art history and I hope to one day be a curator in a museum I am so excited to see how this theme plays out. It’s so unique and perfect, I hope that when I am able to put together exhibits or galleries I can be this original and innovative. Basically tomorrow is going to be my Idea of heaven. I’ve always planed on making a trip to Chicago to see at least Degas ballerina paintings before I die and now it’s in my own backyard. Can life get any better?
